We celebrate Rhode Island’s state flower The Common Blue Violet as our 2007 Collectors tile. We add on cork feet to the back so it works great as a trivet. It can also be installed along with any other tile or simply hung on the wall with a plate hanger as a decorative accent to any room. Classic in either our Amethyst or Dove glazes it is however available in our full color palate.    $35-   5 7/8” x 5 7/8” x 3/8”

On Arbor Day way back in 1897 Rhode Island school children selected the violet as their preferred state flower. The common blue violet however didn't become official until the Rhode Island General Assembly acted on it some seventy years later. In 1967, teacher and politician Francis Sherman decided that since every other state in the union had adopted a state flower, it was time for Rhode Island to follow suite. He introduced a bill to make the violet (viola sororia) the official flower of the state. This time the General Assembly took action and on March 11, 1968, Rhode Island finally had a flower that could be called official.

All glazes are non-toxic and safe for the dishwasher and microwave.
