All of the Roseberry-Winn line is made from high fire vitreous porcelain. The pieces are all handmade and hand finished. We either slip cast the work from our original molds or press it on to the molds with the help of a hydraulic press. We then fire on a satin matte glaze developed to pool into the carved surface of the work to accentuate the low relief patterning. Designed for everyday use, all of the glazes are non-toxic and safe for the dishwasher and microwave.

Working closely together, Bruce Winn and Michael Roseberry developed a line of work produced in high-fire porcelain. Starting from the ground up, they spent one whole summer formulating a fine durable porcelain clay body and a rich palette of satin matte glazes by testing hundreds of recipes and then tweaking them chemically to their liking. Before creating a ceramic prototype for a new piece they will do multiple drawings which then lead to paper mock-ups. They will continue this process until they are happy with the form and placement of pattern upon it. Next they will hand-build an original out of clay carving a low-relief pattern into the wet clay. From this original they will be able to create molds to slip cast from. Each piece needs to be finished by hand by cutting down the seam lines and then wiping down with a sponge. Once the pieces go through their first firing (the bisque firing) they are hand dipped into a bucket of glaze and fired again to their finished state.

All glazes are non-toxic and safe for the dishwasher and microwave.
